St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center today announced that it has been recognized by Healthgrades as one of America’s 100 Best™ hospitals for Cardiac care, the fourth straight year the institution has received this distinction.
St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, part of Steward Health Care and a teaching hospital of Tufts University School of Medicine, this week became the first hospital in New England to use the Lutonix 035 Drug Coated Balloon PTA Catheter, a new device to treat patients with peripheral artery disease.
Today, Steward Health Care System LLC (Steward) announced the appointment of Roger D. Mitty, MD, as interim president of St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Brighton. Mitty has been a part of St. Elizabeth’s medical staff for more than twenty years. Most recently, he served as the Chief of Gastroenterology at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Vice President of the Medical Business unit of Steward Medical Group and Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine.
Dr. Joseph Carrozza, Chief of Cardiology at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center and Vice President of the Steward Health Care Cardiovascular Network, has been named a Regional Top Doctor with Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. He is a pioneer of robotic-assisted heart stent surgery with St. Elizabeth’s being the first hospital in New England to offer breakthrough CorPath® Angioplasty, a robotic-assisted angioplasty system.

St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center Celebrates 100th Anniversary in Brighton
St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, a teaching hospital of Tufts University and a member of Steward Health Care, celebrates its 100th anniversary in Brighton this month. A Mass with Cardinal Seán O’Malley highlighted the observance on Monday, September 22, 2014 and many members of the community including local legislators, business leaders and St. Elizabeth’s health care partners participated.
