The Nephrology Department at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center is consistently recognized by national and international organizations for excellence in teaching and clinical care.

Inpatient and Outpatient Nephrology Services

Our interdisciplinary team, which includes expert, board-certified nephrologists, work closely with patients to create personalized treatment plans tailored to their health care needs. In addition to providing patient care, all of the department’s physicians are on faculty at Tufts University School of Medicine, and our renal specialists have published hundreds of research studies and are recognized as some of the top nephrologists in the United States.

Comprehensive services and treatments offered at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center include:

  • Intensive care nephrology
  • Continuous veno-venous hemodialysis (CVVHD) 
  • Inpatient and outpatient hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis
  • Training for dialysis at home 
  • Formal dietary therapy for all diseases especially kidney stones and kidney failure

For outpatients requiring dialysis our renowned outpatient dialysis unit continually receives 5-star ratings from the Medicare Dialysis Facility Compare Star Program and has been recognized as the top dialysis unit in Massachusetts for clinical outcomes. Flexible scheduling is available as well as translator services for all languages.

The unit’s full-time medical director works on-site and oversees a team of committed nephrologists, skilled nurses, patient care technicians, a dietitian and social worker.  The medical staff works with a patient’s entire health care team to provide a seamless transition from inpatient to outpatient service. Because of our on-site hospital location, multiple consultation services, X-ray, blood transfusion and other services are available.
