Medical Nutrition Therapy

Offered by the Registered Dietitians at the St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center George Tully III, MD Diabetes and Nutrition Center, Medical Nutrition Therapy helps patients incorporate healthy nutrition into their lives. Diet is a key factor in achieving health and wellness goals, however, making lifestyle change can be hard. Dietitians help people learn about food and make the changes needed to eat healthfully.
 
You would benefit from meeting with a Registered Dietitian (RD) if you:
  • want to shed some extra pounds
  • have diabetes and want to lower your A1C
  • want to lower your cholesterol
  • have cardiovascular problems or high blood pressure
  • have kidney disease
  • have digestive problems
  • are pregnant or trying to get pregnant
  • want to eat smarter
 
What the Nutrition Program Offers
Anyone receiving care at the George Tully III, MD Diabetes and Nutrition Center needs a physician referral. Patients will receive education and instruction from a registered dietitian as ordered by their physician, in the following areas:
  • weight loss/healthy weight counseling
  • establishing good eating habits
  • appropriate guidelines to manage their medical condition or disease
  • recommendations for reasonable food portions
  • label reading
  • nutritional content of food
  • strategies for dining out
  • calories needed for:
  • weight loss
  • weight gain
  • maintenance
  • pregnancy
  • meal preparation modification
Most health insurances cover all or at least a portion of our services. Our clinic, open five days a week, can often accommodate early morning and early evening appointments.
