Free Support Groups for Cancer Patients and their Loved Ones Offered at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center

BRIGHTON – June 7, 2016 – Dana-Farber Cancer Institute at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center hosts several free support groups for cancer patients and their loved ones at the Brighton campus located at 736 Cambridge St. All groups meet in at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center unit on Cushing Pavilion 5.

The Patient Cancer Support Group is dedicated to providing men and women living with cancer an opportunity to share experiences and support one another. The group meets on the fourth Monday of the month from 2-3:30 p.m. Upcoming meeting dates are June 27, July 25, Aug. 22, Sept. 26, Oct. 24, Nov. 28 and Dec. 19.

The American Cancer Society's “Look Good Feel Better” program, a free service that teaches cancer patients hands-on cosmetic techniques to help them cope with appearance-related side effects from chemotherapy and/or radiation treatments, will take place on Monday, June 13, Monday, Sept. 12 and Monday, Dec. 12 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The program offers free tips and training on wig care, scarf and hat use, skin care, and nail care.

Loved ones and friends of cancer patients can attend the Caregiver Support Group, which is held on third Wednesday of every month from 5:15-6:45 p.m. Group participants come together to share challenges, triumphs, lessons and resources. Upcoming meeting dates are June 15, July 20, Aug. 17, Sept. 14, Oct. 19, Nov. 16 and Dec. 21.
