Sports Concussion Clinic at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center
St. Elizabeth’s Sports Concussion Clinic utilizes a multidisciplinary approach to diagnose and manage sports-related concussions. Research has improved the care of concussions, and there are many methods to help the child, adolescent, and adult patients recover from this injury. Dr. Jennifer Luz, trained in the leading research-based concussion program, offers educational workshops to coaches, parents, and schools.
How Can the Sports Concussion Clinic Help?
The Sports Concussion Clinic will create individualized treatment plans to get you or your child back to school, work, and athletics in a safe and effective way.
The Sports Concussion Clinic is led by Dr. Jennifer Luz with consultant, Dr. Alan Ashare, chair, USA Hockey Safety and Protective Equipment Committee and chair, MIAA Sports Medicine Committee. Treatment plans are tailored to the individual athlete, utilizing a multidisciplinary team, including but not limited to ENT, neurology, neuro-ophthalmology, vestibular and ocular rehabilitation, and physical therapy. The clinic uses ImPACT, a neurocognitive assessment tool, and other evidence based methods to monitor athletes.
