BRIGHTON—Sanjay K. Shetty, MD, MBA, chairman of the Department of Radiology at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center and vice president of Radiology for Steward Health Care, was elected president of the Massachusetts Radiological Society (MRS) effective June 1.
As president, Shetty will lead the Massachusetts Radiologic Society’s overall operations and activities, will preside over its executive committee meetings and will serve as its chief spokesperson. Established in 1969, MRS works to advance the science and service of radiology, study the economic aspects of the practice of radiology, encourage education and establish and maintain high medical and ethical standards. MRS is a leader in health care reform and patient safety, and the group works closely with legislators, regulators and payers on issues related to radiology, radiation oncology and radiation physics. Shetty has served on the group’s executive committee since 2006, and he serves as co-chair of the MRS Government Relations Committee and represents MRS as a councilor to the American College of Radiology.
Shetty joined St. Elizabeth’s as chairman of Radiology in 2010. He is a graduate of Harvard College, Harvard Medical School and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his residency and fellowship in Radiology at the Massachusetts General Hospital, where he served as chief resident.
