The prospect of undergoing surgery can be daunting, but at St. Elizabeth’s you will find not only a full range of surgical specialties and some of the top surgeons in the U.S., but also, a holistic, patient-centered approach in which every patient is treated with compassion and care.
In most cases, we provide specialists appointments and diagnostic testing within a day or two of referral. Then a multidisciplinary team meets with each patient to discuss treatment options as soon as test results are available.
Our surgeons, all board certified, are faculty members of the Tufts University School of Medicine. They perform thousands of surgeries each year — providing expertise and meticulous attention to detail for up-to date procedures ranging from the simplest appendectomy to the most advanced open heart surgery.
Many publish research papers, speak at medical conferences and take part in clinical trials aimed at enhancing patient care. All collaborate closely with patients, families, referring physicians and with one another to strive for the best possible outcome for every patient.
Procedures are carried out in state-of-the-art operating rooms with the latest equipment and techniques, including laparoscopic and other types of minimally invasive surgery; radio-guided lymph node and endocrine surgery; and a full range of surgical procedures for benign and malignant disease.
As a result, St. Elizabeth’s has one of the lowest rates of surgical complications in the nation, and a patient satisfaction rate that is among the highest in New England.
Additionally, St. Elizabeth's recently renovated the Operating Room Suite to provide the most advanced surgical equipment available and a more spacious area to accommodate surgeon and patient needs.
