We work with patients hospitalized for nearly any medical condition. Our goal is to provide every patient with the best care possible.
St. Elizabeth’s inpatient physical therapists are experienced, knowledgeable and caring professionals. They provide individualized, high-quality therapy aimed at helping patients improve mobility, strength and function. The goal is for each patient to achieve the highest level of independence possible. Well versed in orthopedics, cardiothoracic, neurological, pulmonary and general medicine, our inpatient physical therapists collaborate closely with all members of the medical team. They offer compassionate care and support to patients who may be dealing with physical, emotional and lifestyle changes.
Our expertly trained speech therapists evaluate and treat patients who have experienced changes in speech, voice, language, ability to swallow, or cognitive-linguistic skills as a result of strokes, accidents, and brain or other injuries. They work closely with physicians, nurses, physical and occupational therapists and dieticians to offer personalized treatment and education to help patients maximize function and develop compensatory strategies. They also assist patients and their families with discharge planning.
St. Elizabeth’s inpatient occupational therapists work with patients individually throughout the hospital, including the neonatal intensive care unit. With compassion and understanding, they provide treatment to enhance mobility, safety, judgment, home management and coping skills so that patients can more readily perform the activities of daily living. They collaborate with physical therapists, speech and language pathologists, physicians, nurses and other care management staff to help patients improve the quality of their lives and function independently.
