St. Elizabeth’s has one the highest-rated kidney and hypertension treatment programs in New England. Services are provided in state-of-the-art facilities by a collaborative, multidisciplinary team that takes a personalized, holistic approach to patient care.
All of our doctors including nephrologists, radiologists, urologists, vascular surgeons and others are board-certified faculty members of the Tufts University School of Medicine. They actively conduct and publish research, offer fellowship training and are actively involved in clinical trials. They provide our patients with some of the most advanced technologies and therapies available anywhere.
Inpatient services include hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, consultation on disorders ranging from acute kidney failure to the rarest of kidney diseases, and certain therapies available only in academic medical centers.
Our modern, hospital-based hemodialysis center, the largest in Boston, was recently rated top in the state for quality of care. Equipped with new dialysis machines, the center is staffed by nurses and other trained professionals who provide a full range of on-site medical and counseling services. We stay open until 1 AM, provide excellent vascular access and have some of the best outcomes in Massachusetts. We are one of very few hospitals licensed to train patients for short daily home dialysis.
At St. Elizabeth’s, patients with chronic kidney disease, kidney stones, salt and water problems or hypertension are treated by renowned specialists. We offer intravenous iron and erythropoietin injections to treat the anemia associated with kidney disease. In our chronic kidney disease (CKD) clinic, specially trained nurses are available to help patients manage living with CKD.
Treatment facilities are conveniently located adjacent to our doctors’ offices and clinics. Many of our patients travel long distances to receive the superb medical treatment and compassionate care for which we are known.
