Senior Leadership Team

Roger D. Mitty, MD, Interim President, St. Elizabeth's Medical Center

Dr. Mitty, interim president, most recently served as the chief of the Division of Gastroenterology at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center and vice president of the Medicine Business Unit for Steward Medical Group. He is also the past president of the medical staff of St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center.

A native of the New York City area, Dr. Mitty attended Wesleyan University as an undergraduate, and then obtained his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine. After completing his internship and residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, Dr. Mitty trained in gastroenterology at Boston University.

A member of the St. Elizabeth’s medical staff since 1994, Dr. Mitty has an outstanding regional reputation as a therapeutic endoscopist. He is a past president of the New England Endoscopy Society and is a clinical associate professor of medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine. He has been honored by being be named to Boston’s “Top Doctors” and “Super Doctors” lists.


Michael Bakerman, MD, Vice President for Medical Affairs

Dr. Bakerman is responsible for hospital-wide quality, enhancing patient experience and providing oversight of our medical staff office and medical staff affairs.

Dr. Bakerman attended UMass Amherst as an undergraduate and earned his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed his residency and cardiology fellowship at Boston University Medical Center. He holds a Master of Medical Management from Tulane University. He served as the Associate Medical Director for the Partners Community Healthcare, Inc (PCHI) and as the CMIO at UMass Memorial Medical Center.


Michael F. Collins, Chief Administrative Officer

Michael is responsible for all finance and hospital operations. These functions include budget, general accounting and revenue cycle, as well as developing and executing service line growth strategies, expanding inpatient and outpatient services, and leading facilities projects.

Michael has deep roots in the local health care community, including serving as a unit manager at St. Elizabeth’s three decades ago. In addition, he has extensive experience within Steward Health Care most recently serving as the chief financial officer for the hospital division and as CEO of Merrimack Valley Hospital. Prior to Steward Health Care, Michael served as senior director of financial operations for Emerson Hospital and also director of financial operations for Mount Auburn Hospital.

Michael earned his MBA from Suffolk University and his undergraduate degree from Boston State College.

Cindy Kane, RN, BSN, MPA, Interim Chief Nursing Officer; VP, Patient Care Services

St. Elizabeth’s medical center is proud to welcome Cynthia Kane, RN, BSN, MPA as the Interim Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and VP, Patient Care Services where she is responsible for leading the nursing staff and all patient care services at St. Elizabeth's. Cindy is an accomplished health care executive with a broad range of leadership experience in community hospitals, academic medical centers and physician practice organizations. Cindy joins us from Boston Children’s Hospital Pediatric Physician Organization where she served as Interim Chief Operating Officer. Her previous experience includes positions at Shriner’s Hospital for Children, Hallmark Health Medical Associates, Bristol Hospital in Bristol, CT, Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London, CT and Mariner Health Care in Mystic, CT. Cindy earned her MPA from the University of Hartford in Hartford, CT and her BSN from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, IA.


Ronald Doncaster, Vice President, Operations

Ron oversees the clinical and administrative operations of St. Elizabeth's Medical Center. He previously served as COO at Lynn Community Health Center and prior to that as director of operations management services at Newton Wellesley Hospital (NWH). Ron has also served in various roles within Partners Health Care. He is an adjunct professor at Cambridge College.


Fred Vitello, CPA, MBA, Chief Financial Officer

Fred Vitello, CPA, MBA, joins St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center as its chief financial officer (CFO). In this role he is responsible for the financial leadership of the hospital. He has more than 30 years of health care finance experience, most recently as the CFO of Schneider Regional Medical Center in St. Thomas, USVI.

Fred has an B.S. from Temple University and an MBA from LaSalle University as well as earning his CPA license.

Gail Flynn

Gail Flynn, SPHR, Director, Human Resources

Gail oversees all areas related to the human resources function at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, including recruitment, compensation and employee benefits, employee relations, regulatory compliance, and organizational development. Gail has more than 20 years experience in human resources. Prior to her tenure at St. Elizabeth's, Gail has worked within Steward Health Care and has also served in various senior level roles at organizations, including Reebok International, Domain Home, Dunkin' Brands and Filene's.

Gail earned her B.S. from the University of Massachusetts.

Jennifer Kovalich, Director of Strategic Communications

Jennifer oversees the hospital’s internal and external communications, including marketing, public relations and media. She joined St. Elizabeth’s after working at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, a sister hospital in the Steward Health Care Network.

Jennifer, who is a graduate of the S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, brings a vast array of experience to her role. Before joining the health care industry she enjoyed a career as an award-winning journalist working at daily newspapers in southeastern Massachusetts and upstate New York.
